RULES FOR CONDUCTING THE 55th ANNUAL VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTER’S
N.Y.S CHAMPIONSHIP & HANDICAP TOURNAMENT

1] The signature of team captain on the reverse side of this application verifies that he/she is acting on behalf of all the entrants or their substitutes. Captains agree that all entrants will abide by the playing rules and regulations of the NYS Vol. firefighter’s Bowling Tournament set here in. The captain and all entrants also agree that the NYS Vol. Firefighter’s Bowling Association shall be liable only to the extent of returning total entry fees if and when the entrants are prevented from bowling through delay, unexpected yet necessary schedule changes or premature termination of the tournament brought about by fire, strikes, lockouts, labor difficulties or other circumstances beyond their control.
2] Eligibility requirements: NEW Teams, doubles & singles can consist of Active/Exempt Volunteers, Paid Firefighters/Auxiliary or Ambulance Core Members and can include non emergency personnel, friends, family or neighbors. In addition, teams, doubles & singles can consist of non-Firematic personnel but who belong to a Fraternal Organization. Example given: Union Members, Elk or Moose Lodge Members, American Legion Members. Etc.
3] Handicaps:
A] In each event bowlers will receive a handicap of 100% of the difference between their average and 220. Maximum handicap is 80 pins.
B] Highest final USBC average from previous season will be used to determine this handicap. Minimum 21 games bowled.
C] Averages 10 pins over last years at time of bowling will be used. Rule 319e is waived
D] Averages established in summer leagues will not be accepted
E] Bowlers who do not have an established average from previous season may use their current season average. Minimum 21 games
bowled by the date of their bowling in the tournament
F] Bowlers who do not have an established average may bowl in tournament at scratch 220 average.
4] Trophies and Prize Money:
A] Trophies will be awarded for highest scratch and handicap scores in each event.
B] Prize money will be awarded according to the established prize list posted before the start of the tournament.
C] Only one trophy will be awarded to any entrant in each event.
D] You need not report prize winnings.
5] Multiple Participation:
A] Bowlers may participate up to three times in any event with the following restrictions:
1] In team event at lest 2 members of the original team must change.
2] Applications and entry fee must be received by entry close date as stated here in Rule 13.
3] In doubles you have to change partners to be eligible for additional prizes. In singles you may only cash once.
Highest score only.
4] First appearance in each event shall count toward all events.
6] Disqualifications:
A] Teams or individuals will be disqualified for submitting false averages. It will be the captain’s responsibility to verify the
accuracy of each entrant’s average and make corrections prior to bowling.
Failure to do this could result in disqualification and loss of all prize money.
B] Teams or individuals may also be disqualified for un-sportsmen-like conduct, vulgarity and/or unnecessary delay of games.
7] High scores recognition will be given to all USBC members. Non-USBC members may purchase an associate membership card before
bowling in tournament.
8] Substitutes:
A] Will be allowed but must report to the office one hour before the start of bowling with all verifications from league secretary and fire chief or president of department or auxiliary.
B] After game has started a substitute will be allowed (if one available) due to a bowler becoming injured or disabled. Substitute will begin
at the same point in the game and their score will count.
9] Bowling frames lost due to a team member being late may not be made up.
10] Lanes will be assigned before the start of each shift and for each event.
11] Team captains must list each bowler on the entry form in order they will bowl. Substitutes will bowl in the position vacated by the original entrant.
Any changes made without the consent of the tournament officials will automatically disqualify the team.
12] Entry fees must accompany entry forms. No entry money will be returned after being received.
13] The entry close date will be – February 20, 2012 – and all reservations made prior will be held until – February 1, 2012.
14] Any appeal or protest should be made in writing and briefly state the grounds of the appeal/protest and be submitted to the Executive Board for
review.
All decisions made by the Board will be final. An appeal or protest can also be made to the USBC in accordance with their rules.
15] Prize ratio in this tournament is at least one to ten in all events.
16] Any rules not covered above will be covered by USBC rules accordingly.
17] The NYS Volunteer Firefighter’s Bowling Tournament Association is not liable for any injuries or lost articles during the tournament.
